Rail & Fly 7 Days Program in Myanmar
(Yangon - Mandalay - Bagan - Nyaung Shwe - Inle Lake - Nyaung Shwe - Shwe Nyaung -  Yangon)

DAY 1: YANGON - MANDALAY (by night train)
Our tour guide will meet you at 16:30 at the central railway station in Yangon for the train to Mandalay by 5UP (Etd: 17:00 / Eta: 07:00).

DAY 2: MANDALAY
Upon arrival transfer to ET Hotel for check-in. Sightseeing in Mandalay starts with a visit to the gold leaf making industry, the Mahamuni Pagoda - originally built by King Bodawpaya in 1784 - hosting the revered Mahamuni image - cast in the 1st century and now covered in thick gold leaves - and the arts and crafts center (bronze casting, stone carving, etc.). In the afternoon visit the downtown area are with the sprawling old Zegyo Market, the picturesque open-air market west of Zegyo, designed in 1903 by Count Caldari ; Shwenandaw Monastery, noted for its exquisite wood carvings; Atumashi Monastery (Incomparable Monastery); Kuthodaw Pagoda, known as the "Worlds Biggest Book" for its stone slabs of Buddhist scriptures; and finally climb Mandalay Hill for the sunset. Overnight at ET Hotel.

DAY 3: MANDALAY - BAGAN by express boat (daily except Wed. and Sun.)
Early morning transfer to Gaw Wein jetty to take the express boat to Bagan (Etd: 05:30 / Eta: 16:00). After a day river cruise on the mighty Ayeyarwaddy River you reach Bagan. Thousands of ancient pagodas rise majestically from the plain to create a timeless scene, saluting a glorious past. On arrival at the Bagan Jetty transfer to New Park Hotel for check-in and overnight.

DAY 4: BAGAN
Full-day sightseeing tour of Bagan with a diverse selection of the most important pagodas and temples, such as the Shwezigon Pagoda, built by King Anawrahta in the early 11th century as a religious shrine; the Gu Byauk Gyi Temple, a temple with exquisite murals of Jataka scenes; the Ananda Temple, with four huge standing Buddha images and numerous seated figures in niches around the galleried interior; and the Shwe Gu Gyi Temple, noted for its fine stucco carvings and panoramic views of the area's many monuments. In the afternoon, continue your sightseeing with a visit to the lacquer ware factory; to Manuha Temple, built in the Mon style in 1059 and to Nanphaya Temple, said to have once been the residence of King Manuha and Gu Byauk Gyi Temple (Wet Kyi Inn), which has very nice frescoes inside. Enjoy the sunset on the terraces of the Shwesandaw Pagoda. Overnight at New Park Hotel.

DAY 5: BAGAN - NYAUNG SHWE by air-con car
Whole day drive to Nyaung Shwe (appr. 9 hours), a small town at the northern end of the Inle Lake. Upon arrival transfer to Gold Star Hotel for check-in and overnight.

DAY 6: NYAUNG SHWE (INLE LAKE)
Full day excursion on Inle Lake (25 km), famous for its unique one-leg rowers, typical floating gardens, its local methods of fishing and village life and the Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda housing five sacred and almost shapeless Buddha images; contorted because of the quantity of applied gold leaf - gifts from the believers. The Buddha images are purported to have come here in the 12th century. In the afternoon, proceed to the silk weaving village of In Phaw Khon and visit Nga Phe Chaung (the biggest and oldest monastery around Inle Lake). Overnight at Gold Star Hotel.

DAY 7: NYAUNG SHWE - SHWE NYAUNG - YANGON (overnight air-con bus)
Morning free at leisure. At appr. 11:00 transfer to Shwe Nyaung for the public bus to Yangon (Etd: 12:45 / Eta: next morning at 09:00).

(Yangon - Mandalay - Sagaing - Bagan - Shwe Nyaung - Nyaung Shwe - Pindaya - Yangon)

DAY 1: YANGON
Arrive at Yangon Airport. Welcome by a local guide and transfer to Eastern Hotel. Afternoon sightseeing starts with Chaukhtatkyi Pagoda (a huge reclining Buddha), Karaweik Hall, a Royal floating barge on the Royal Lake for a photo stop. Late in the afternoon, visit the Shwedagon Pagoda, described by Somerset Maugham: "The Shwedagon rose superb, glistening with its gold, like a sudden hope in the dark night of the soul of which the mystics write, glistening against the fog and smoke of the thriving city." Wander through this magnificent structure and its courtyards, stupas, bells, Temples, and Buddha images, and see religious and secular visitors from all parts of the globe. Shwedagon has become the symbol of Myanmar. Enjoy the sunset over the Pagoda. In the evening time, visit China Town. Overnight at Eastern Hotel.
 
DAY 2: YANGON - MANDALAY (by express train)
After breakfast check out form the hotel and sightseeing includes World Peace Pagoda which was built at the same time when the sixth synod was held then proceed to Mae Lamu Pagoda which is popular because of its many Buddha images, monks and other images (statues). After lunch visit Botahtaung Pagoda, continue to Sule Pagoda and down town area where you can find colonial buildings and daily activities of local people. At appr. 16:00 transfer to central railway station for the train to Mandalay by 5UP (Etd: 17:00 / Eta: 07:00).
 
DAY 3: MANDALAY
On arrival transfer to E.T. Hotel. Sightseeing includes visits of Arts and Crafts Center such as marble cutting, wood-carving, jade grinding and gold-leaf making. Continue to Mahamuni Pagoda afternoon sightseeing to Mandalay Palace, Shwenandaw monastery, noted for its exquisite wood carvings; Atumashi monastery (Incomparable Monastery); Kuthodaw Pagoda, known as the world’s Biggest Book for its stone slabs of Buddhist scriptures and finally climb Mandalay Hill for the sunset. Overnight at E.T Hotel.
 
DAY 4: MANDALAY - MINGUN - SAGAING - MANDALAY
Appr. 07:30 a.m drive to the jetty and cross the Ayeyarwaddy River (appr. 1 hr). Excursion to Mingun noted for its huge unfinished pagoda and the enormous " Mingun Bell ", the largest ringing bell in the world, then back to Mandalay by boat and then drive over Ava Bridge to Sagaing, 21 km southwest of Mandalay to visit Kaunghmudaw Pagoda, enormous dome shaped pagoda. After lunch a short visit to silversmith home industry and proceed to Sagaing Hills, a retreat for Buddhist devotees with numerous pagodas and monasteries. Sunset at U Bein Bridge in Amarapura and come back to Mandalay. Overnight at E.T Hotel.
 
DAY 5: MANDALAY - BAGAN (by express boat; Eta: 05:30 / Eta: 16:00)
After a day river cruise on the mighty River of Ayeyarwaddy you reach Bagan. Thousands of decaying pagodas rise majestically from the plains to create a timeless scene, saluting a glorious past. Overnight at New Park Hotel.
 
DAY 6: BAGAN
After breakfast enjoy the whole day at the most extensive archeological site in Asia. Bagan has over 5,000 temples and pagodas of various sizes in various states of repair and spread across the plain. Some you can walk to, others are best visited by bicycle or local pony cart. Overnight at New Park Hotel.
 
DAY 7: BAGAN - INLE LAKE (by air-con car)
After breakfast drive to Nyaungshwe (appr: 7 hrs), on the way you can visit Meiktila lake and the villages along the way to see how hill tribes from Myanmar live and their daily activities. Overnight at Gold Star Hotel.
 
DAY 8: INLE LAKE
After breakfast full day excursion on Inle Lake (25 km) to include sights of the famous one-leg rowers, typical floating gardens, local methods of fishing and village life. Continue visit to Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda. After lunch proceed to the weaving village of In Phaw Khon and on the way back visit Nga Phechaung (Jumping cat monastery). Then proceed to Nyaung Shwe and transfer to Paradise Hotel. In the evening traditional dinner with cultural show and overnight at Gold Star Hotel.
 
DAY 9: NYAUNG SHWE - SHWE NYAUNG - YANGON (by air- con bus)
Morning free at leisure. At appr. 11:00 transfer to Shwe Nyaung for the public bus to Yangon (Etd: 12:45 / Eta: next morning at 09:00)
DAY 10: YANGON
On arrival at Yangon transfer to Airport for departure or to your hotel.
